April's Bio
April Shewan practices a combination of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, incorporating dietary and lifestyle recommendations into her treatment plan.
Ms. Shewan opened Coastal Acupuncture in order to fulfill her long standing desire to treat women’s health issues such as; infertility, premenstrual syndrome and menopause. The scope of her practice also extends to include sports medicine, cosmetic acupuncture, and the treatment of insomnia, stress and allergy related conditions.
Ms. Shewan holds a bachelor of science in Biology from the University of New Hampshire and a master’s degree in Oriental Medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture. Additionally she is a diplomat of the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncturists. She is liscensed by the Massachussetts Board of Registration in Medicine and is nationally board certified to practice acupuncture.
As East meets West, April’s prior experience as a Marine Biologist in the public health sector prepared her for the exacting science of combining acupuncture and Chinese herbs to treat a client’s whole being. Her approach to acupuncture reflects her background in Western science.
